Child, Youth & Family Services Division

Central Health is the home of Child, Youth & Family Services Division (CY&FS).

As Director of CY&FS, Dorothy Dormody is accountable for services delivered under the following legislation: Child, Youth & Family Services Act; Youth Criminal Justice Act; and Adoptions Act. The CYFS Division includes the Child, Youth & Family Services (CYFS) Program; Community Youth Corrections/Youth Services Program (CYC-YS); and the Adoptions Program.

  • Barry Rice- Manager of the In Care, Child Welfare Allowance, Caregiver Home and Adoption Programs. Barry is located in Baie Verte (532-5262).
  • Pat Byrne- Manager of Residential Services for Children and Youth. Pat is located in Lewisporte (535-2832)
  • Vanessa Mercer-Oldford - Manager of Quality Initiatives and Strategic Planning. Vanessa is located in Grand Falls-Windsor (489-4211)

The human resource base which supports the work in the CYFS division includes director, managers, Program Development Specialists, social workers, social work assistants, Learning Facilitator, Clinical Information Specialist, Legal Counsel, clerical, students.

The CYFS division offers programs and services to more than 1,000 children, youth and families within the central region. We work under strategic plans which guide our work in providing services that promote, protect and support the health, safety and well being of all children and youth within the central Region.
