Diversion of audiology services - 20/06/2018

Due to the availability of audiologists, audiology services are being temporarily diverted from Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre (CNRHC) in Grand Falls-Windsor to James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre (JPMRHC) in Gander.

Services affected by this diversion include:

  • Provincial Hearing Aid Program
  • Universal newborn hearing screening program
  • Routine hearing screening

Speech Language Pathology services are still available at CNRHC, and are not affected by this diversion.

This diversion is expected to last six months, and you may experience longer wait times for some affected services. Regular updates will be provided.

If your health care provider submitted a referral for audiology services at CNRHC, your referral will be transferred to JPMRHC.

During this service diversion, any new referrals for audiology services should be submitted to JPMRHC.

Central Health is currently recruiting for audiologists to restore audiology services at CNRHC.

Central Health apologizes for any inconvenience this service diversion might cause, and thanks the public and health care professionals for their understanding and patience while the health region focuses on recruiting, and restoring audiology services at CNRHC.

Updates will be posted on Twitter (@CentralHealthNL).
