Physiotherapy Services

Physiotherapists focus on the assessment, identification, alleviation, and prevention of physical problems or pain. They have detailed understanding of how the body works and are specially trained to assess and improve a client/patient's movement and physical function and to relieve pain. They assess and treat using manual mobilization, prescribing and teaching exercises and use a variety of treatment options such as heat, cold, electrical stimulation and acupuncture.

​Physiotherapists are located at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Green Bay Community Health Centre and Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre.

Additionally, some ambulatory physiotherapy services may be provided by a visiting physiotherapist  at Fogo Island Health Centre, Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre, and Dr. Y.K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Centre in New-Wes-Valley.

All long term care facilities have physiotherapy support workers on site (with the exception of A.M .Guy Memorial Health Centre in Buchans), who work with the physiotherapist to provide service.

Community physiotherapy services are provided to persons at risk for falls in their homes and is available in the Central Zone.
