Central Health implementing visitor restrictions at Valley Vista Senior Citizens' Home in Springdale

Central Health wishes to advise the public that it will be implementing visitor restrictions at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens' Home, in Springdale, effective immediately. The decision to implement the restrictions was made after the Regional Health Authority received confirmation of a positive COVID-19 case in the Central Newfoundland region. This case is currently under investigation.

As a precaution to assist with its investigation, Central Health will be testing all employees and residents at this facility.

Please be advised that until testing is completed, visitation to the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Home is not permitted. Exceptions may be made for residents in palliative care.

Central Health encourages families to communicate with their loved one by phone or virtually (e.g., FaceTime). If a resident needs assistance with technology, our staff are there to help. To set up a virtual visit please contact your loved one’s care home. All other Central Health facilities and services are operating as usual. However, Central Health will continue to monitor the situation in the Central region, and the rest of the province, and is prepared to respond as deemed necessary.

Central Health would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding at this time and ask that they remain vigilant in protecting themselves. This includes:

  • Wearing a mask and maintain a six-foot distance;

  • Washing your hands frequently;

  • Respecting public health guidance on gatherings, travel and quarantine

  • Staying home and calling 8-11 or complete the online assessment if you feel sick;

  • and Downloading the COVID-19 Alert app free through the Apple or Google Play app stores.
