Employee Wellness/Health & Safety
The Employee Wellness/Health and Safety division of Central Health is an employee-focused division of the Human Resources Department. Its objective is to facilitate a safe work environment and healthy lifestyle for all employees, while meeting the organization's strategic goals.
Employees are encouraged to contribute to the development of a safety culture through participation in and with their Occupational Health and Safety Committees, and to avail of services intended to support their health and attendance at work through accident and illness prevention. The division is fiscally responsible to Central Health in its management of claims to the Workplace Health Safety and Compensation Commission, as well as Attendance Management programs, and ensures legislative compliance with Provincial Occupational Health and Safety regulations. Employees can avail of assistance to return to work for either work or non-work related illness or injury, and can be supported through an Employee and Family Assistance Program, which recognizes the impact of an employee's personal problems on their work life. The Employee Wellness/Occupational Health and Safety division is key in the development of an Occupational Health and Safety Program for Central Health which operates under the Internal Responsibility System; all employees play a part in their own health and safety and that of their co-workers.
