UPDATE: Valley Vista Senior Citizens Home Returns to Essential Visitation

Central Health would like to advise that it has lifted its No Visitation Precautions at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Home in Springdale. Enterovirus – a common cold virus – was detected in February and is considered the cause of a recent outbreak.

The virus is no longer present at Valley Vista and the long-term care facility can now return to Essential Visitation, as directed by the province’s Chief Medical Office of Health under Alert Level 4. Staff at Valley Vista have reached out to families of residents about essential visitors.

Furthermore, an investigation related to a resident of Central region who was positive with COVID-19 in February, is now closed. As part of the investigation all patients and staff at Valley Vista were tested for COVID-19, and all results came back negative.

Guidelines for support persons/designated visitors can be found here (https://www.gov.nl.ca/covid-19/guidelines-for-support-person-designated-visitors/). For those who are unable to visit at this time, virtual visitation can be an alternate way to connect with loved ones during these visitor restrictions. To arrange for a virtual visit, please also discuss your request with the care team.
