Wellness webinars series available on Bridge the gApp

Recognizing the challenges that Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are experiencing during the COVID-19 pandemic, Central Health is advising the public of a series of free wellness webinars available through Bridge the gApp (www.bridgethegapp.ca) in the online programs section.

There is no limit to the number of times you can watch the webinars and we encourage you to share with your loved ones. Topics include:

Anxiety Wellness Session

This education session aims to increase knowledge and skills for individuals and/or loved ones who are managing anxiety. The goal for this webinar is to enhance your understanding of anxiety and identify various ways to manage and cope with it.

Coping with Stress Wellness Session

This education session aims to increase knowledge and skills for individuals and/or loved ones who are dealing with stress. The goal for this webinar is to enhance your understanding of stress, stress management, and identify strategies to manage and cope with it.

Parenting Wellness Session

This education session aims to increase knowledge and skills for parenting. The goal for this webinar is to enhance your understanding of various parenting styles and learn strategies for parenting children and teens.

Grief and Loss Wellness Session

This education session aims to increase knowledge and skills for individuals and/or loved ones who are dealing with grief and loss. The goal for this webinar is to enhance your understanding of the natural grieving process and enhance your coping skills.

Substance Use Wellness Session

This education session aims to increase knowledge and skills for individuals and/or loved ones who are impacted by substance use or gambling. The goal for this webinar is to enhance your understanding of substance use and gambling; its impact on the individual and the family; as wells as your understanding of the recovery process.


Harm Reduction: Substance Use

This education session aims to increase knowledge and skills for individuals and/or loved ones who are managing substance use issues. The goal for this webinar is to enhance your understanding of substance use and how to reduce harms associated with use.

Depression Wellness Session

This education session aims to increase knowledge and skills for individuals and/or loved ones who are managing depression. The goal for this webinar is to enhance your understanding of depression and identify ways to manage and cope with it.

E-Mental Health Services in Newfoundland and Labrador

Technology is often used in health care to control, detect, screen, or treat physical illnesses; it is now expanding to support mental health and wellness, in what is known as e-mental health. Newfoundland and Labrador is one of the provinces at the forefront of advancing e-mental health services. These services are important for many reasons; they are evidence based, improve access, give individuals greater choice and control, and promote early intervention and wellness. There are a wide range of technologies being used. Some of these include, telephones and mobile devices, apps, websites, video conferencing, and online self-management tools. These services are free and available now to you!

Parenting in a Pandemic

Topics include how to talk to your children about a pandemic, the importance of structure and routine, how much video gaming is too much, how to impress upon teens the importance of social distancing from friends, ways to keep kids occupied and other useful information.

Self-Care During a Pandemic

A worldwide pandemic is incredibly stressful, and many of us have been having difficulty adapting to the continual changes in recent weeks. In this webinar Dr. Spiegel will provide some education about why we are experiencing distress, and some practical ways to address our distress while we adjust and adapt to this scary, unusual and ever-evolving experience
