Virtual ER to support Physician Shortage at Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre

Central Health is experiencing a temporary physician shortage July 29 2021 at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre (CPHC) in Harbour Breton. With the support of our current Physician Lead, and the collaborative health team, the following services will continue to be offered at the facility:

  • Emergency

  • Acute Care (inpatient)

  • Medical Clinic (doctor’s office)

  • Lab

  • Medical Imaging

  • Continuing Care (Community Nursing)

  • Physiotherapy

  • Dietitian

  • Diabetes/ Well Women’s Clinic

If residents require emergency services on July 29 from 8:00pm to 8:00am, they are advised to call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency room where they will be seen. During this time, individuals presenting to CPHC may be assessed through a virtual emergency room service. Click here for more information on Virtual ERs. Central Health will update the public should additional Virtual ERs be required for the CPHC.

Central Health continues in its recruitment efforts to ensure the provision of safe and sustainable care across the region.

The Regional Health Authority continues to be proactive in its search to find physician support for CPHC. Central Health continues its efforts in recruitment for this area for both physicians and non-physician healthcare workers. Central Health has been engaging physicians directly about potential opportunities and is working with an international recruitment firm to assist in its search for physicians.

Central Health apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks you for your patience.
