Temporary diversion of Obstetrical Services

Updated: Aug 8

August 7, 2022

Central Health would like to advise that effective at 12:00 pm (noon) on Monday, August 8, 2022, obstetrical services will be temporarily diverted from Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor to James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre (JPMRHC) in Gander. Central Health will provide updates as and when the situation changes.

The diversion is due to the current State of Emergency declared on August 6 for Grand Falls-Windsor, Bishop’s Falls and the Connaigre Peninsula.

Obstetrical patients who feel they may be in labour are asked to proceed directly to the admitting department at JPMRHC in Gander. If delivery is imminent, pregnant women in labour who live closer to Grand Falls-Windsor should proceed to the emergency department at CNRHC.

If you have any questions in this regard, please contact your obstetrical care provider.

For questions regarding your health, please call 811. For emergency assistance please 911. Thank you for your understanding, cooperation and assistance in this matter.
